Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust of Bhendi Bazar is a Farsighted Project of Our Beloved Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Maula RA, for the Upliftment of People Living in the Shadow of Raudat Tahera.
The concept of the upliftment of the residents of dilapidated buildings never crossed anybody's mind. It is Our Beloved Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Maula RA, who understood the plight of people living in such buildings.
The SBUT Project will benefit over twenty thousand people including resident's and businesses at Bhendi Bazar and it will provide better living conditions, we can say it will provide its people with Homes and not just Houses.
SBUT has provided temporary accommodation to the tenants, furnished with a kitchen and an attached bathroom and also transit camp is built to rehabilitate businesses.
SBUT is Gaining Momentum and Popularity. It is the biggest and one of its kind Cluster Development Project. Recently, students of the Columbia University, New York, visited Mumbai to understand the upliftment project.
If we look at the current condition of South Mumbai, also includes Bhendi Bazar, the scenario is horrible. South Mumbai tops the list of shaky buildings.The BMC has recently identified 32,284 buildings as dangerous.
Shocking figure, Right ? People do not wish to vacate their houses, maybe because they have nowhere to go and the BMC has no power to forcibly evacuate people from such buildings.
